Zamioculcas

Although the plant can thrive in low-light conditions, it will grow better if placed in a brighter environment. However, direct sunlight should be avoided as it could cause burns on the leaves.

Use a liquid fertilizer for green plants once every two months.

The plant requires little water. It’s essential to let the soil dry out between waterings and avoid keeping the plant in a humid environment for too long, so never leave water in the saucer.

ZAMIOCULCAS

The botanical name of the plant is Zamioculcas zamiifolia, commonly referred to as the “ZZ plant”, especially in the English-speaking world. The specific epithet “zamiifolia” refers to the appearance of the foliage, which is very similar to plants of the Zamia genus, though this plant does not belong to that genus.

The Zamioculcas is a tropical plant found in the forests of Tanzania. It is semi-succulent with long, leathery, and fleshy leaflets arranged in parallel on stiff, almost vertical, slightly curved stems. The plant has an elegant appearance, thanks to its glossy green leaves. Older plants may produce flowers that resemble those of calla lilies.

The leaves of the Zamioculcas have good purifying properties; the plant is known for its effectiveness in absorbing and neutralizing toxic substances and pollutants in indoor environments.
