Pachira Aquatica

The Pachira can be grown both in full sun and in a shaded position.

During the warm season, it should be fertilized every two weeks. It is preferable to suspend fertilization in autumn and winter.

In nature, it prefers very wet soils. Indoors, it is best to water regularly and frequently during the warm season and slow down during the cold season.

PACHIRA AQUATICA

The Pachira aquatica is an evergreen plant belonging to the Bombacaceae family (the same as the majestic Baobab), native to the Central American region, where it thrives in humid areas such as tropical river estuaries. In nature, it can reach a height of 15 meters. The plant is known as the Guiana Chestnut because it produces edible seeds that are consumed roasted or fried.

In our latitudes, the plant remains in a juvenile state and does not bear fruit, but it is widely known and appreciated as an indoor plant for its beauty.

Legends and popular traditions attribute to the Pachira leaves the power to attract wealth, fortune, and success. The money drawn by the leaves is said to be held within the trunk. These “powers” have earned the Pachira the nickname “Money Tree.”
