ANTURIUM ANDREANUM<\/strong>

The Anthurium<\/strong> is a tropical plant with decorative foliage from the Araceae<\/strong> family. Native to the rainforests of Central and South America<\/strong>, it was introduced to Europe as an ornamental plant about 100 years ago, with the first Anthurium bloom in Europe occurring in London’s greenhouses in 1889.<\/p>\n

The name comes from the Greek words \u00e1nthos<\/em>, meaning “flower,” and our\u00e1<\/em>, meaning “tail.” It is also known as the “Hawaiian Heart” or the “flamingo flower.”<\/p>\n

It features dark green, heart-shaped leaves, and its decorative value lies in the beauty of its inflorescence, which consists of a large, colored spathe supporting a white-yellowish cylindrical spadix, from which small flowers bloom. The typical color is red in contrast with the yellow spadix, but today there are many hybrids in a variety of colors, including white, pink, orange, and even a speckled variety.<\/p>\n

Its popularity is due not only to its glossy, eye-catching colors but also to the long-lasting nature of its flowers. If certain care guidelines are followed, the Anthurium can bloom continuously throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The Anthurium is also known for its excellent air-purifying capabilities.<\/strong> Numerous studies have revealed that it is particularly effective at improving the air quality in our homes and offices.<\/p>\n
