The botanical name of the plant is Zamioculcas zamiifolia<\/em><\/strong>, commonly referred to as the “ZZ plant”<\/strong>, especially in the English-speaking world. The specific epithet “zamiifolia” refers to the appearance of the foliage, which is very similar to plants of the Zamia<\/em> genus, though this plant does not belong to that genus.<\/p>\n

The Zamioculcas<\/strong> is a tropical plant found in the forests of Tanzania<\/strong>. It is semi-succulent with long, leathery, and fleshy leaflets arranged in parallel on stiff, almost vertical, slightly curved stems. The plant has an elegant appearance, thanks to its glossy green leaves. Older plants may produce flowers that resemble those of calla lilies.<\/p>\n
